Bicycling

Bicycling to work isn’t just about staying fit and healthy, you're helping everyone by reducing traffic congestion and also helping to keep the air clean. Quite simply, bicycling is inexpensive for short trips around town and to work.

Bicycling can be an option for people who live within five miles from work.

If further than five miles, a portion of the trip can be combined with transit.

All of Asheville Transit System buses are equipped with front bicycle racks so you could ride your bike from home to the transit stop, then take the bus; or take the bus part way from home, then use your bicycle for the remainder of the trip.

Also, there is a Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force which meets the fourth Thursday of each month (with adjustments for Thanksgiving and Christmas, if necessary). The Task Force works for change in the cycling and walking environment in Asheville and the surrounding area.
