Car/Vanpooling

Carpooling

Carpooling is the most flexible alternative to drive-alone commuting. It is also a smart way to save on expenses and helps to eliminate traffic congestion and air pollution.

A carpool can operate every workday, or only on certain days which makes it a convenient way to commute. People who regularly carpool can still drive alone to work one or two days each week when they need to take care of outside business, personal errands, or other side trips.

A common type of carpool is two people commuting. Sometimes carpoolers share driving responsibilities or one person does all the driving and is reimbursed for mileage by his or her riders.

If you’re looking for someone to carpool to work with, it’s simple. Put up a sign in the lunch room or by the time clock; people are more comfortable carpooling with someone they work with than a stranger.

Vanpooling

Sharing a ride can be cheaper. Unlike a carpool, a vanpool allows you to save wear and tear on your own vehicle, and offers greater cost savings.

A vanpool is described as a motor vehicle that is occupied by 7 to 15 people traveling together for their commute trip that results in the reduction of a minimum of one vehicle trip.
